Farmers, vendors needed for the upcoming farmers market season!
Applications are available online, deadline is Feb. 19

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC (January 26, 2010) -
The Community Development and Tourism Office is inviting farmers and food vendors to submit their applications for the 2010 season no later than February 19. The applications can be found online at www.townofmountpleasant.com under the Community Development and Tourism pages. Apply early!

“The success of our market relies heavily on the professionalism of our farmers and vendors who are dedicated to bringing a wholesome, healthy, affordable, and fun market experience for our patrons,” added Ashley McKenzie, Community Development and Tourism Officer. “I urge all vendors to apply to the 2010 Mount Pleasant Farmers Market and help us make our 13th year the best one yet!”

The market reopened at Moultrie Middle School in the spring of 2009 and provides a state-of-the-art facility for farmers and vendors while preserving the Lowcountry charm of one of the most successful coastal market venues in the region. The 2010 season runs from April 13 through October 19.

Fresh produce available during early spring will include asparagus, strawberries, peas, lettuce, radishes, collard and kale greens, turnips, carrots, cabbage, beets, and other seasonal items. Peaches, blueberries, blackberries and other summer favorites will become available in May, along with fresh seafood. Late market season produce will include sweet corn, tomatoes, cantaloupes, watermelons and eggplants. Fresh jams and jellies, relishes, peanuts, baked goods, and fresh-cut flowers will be available throughout the run of the Market. “Watch our Specials board for the product of the week,” said McKenzie. “Come prepared to learn more about your favorite fruits and veggies – including recipes from some of our vendors.”

Leashed dogs are welcome. Admission and parking are always free! For more information about the 2010 Farmers Market, or to download an application, visit us online at www.townofmountpleasant.com or call Ashley McKenzie at (843) 884-8517.
